Hello, I'm Louisa
I'm a recent graduate from The New School with a BA in literary studies and creative fiction writing. I've worked in the publishing and music industry, and spend my free time working on passion projects: I run a zine, front a local band, edit fiction/essays and play the harp.
My Past...
Volunteer Work
Reading Partners | Volunteer Tutor
While job searching post-grad, I spent two days a week during the school year volunteering with Reading Partners, a literacy nonprofit, working one-on-one with children to help them build foundational reading skills. The role allowed me to combine two things I care about deeply: literature and hands-on humanitarian work. This has been some of the most rewarding work I've done, and my commitment to the program led to an offer to join Reading Partners' AmeriCorps team full-time.
Sacred Court Support | Court Accompaniment Volunteer
I trained with Sacred Court Support to accompany immigrants to court dates and ICE check-ins as they face deportation proceedings. I help them stay organized and fill out paperwork, remind them of their rights, and take notes during hearings since they aren't permitted to. Afterward, I walk them to a place where they feel safe, and if they are detained, I document the incident and notify their emergency contacts and the SCS team. I continue this work when my schedule allows.
Writing Experience
As you can see in my resume to the left, I studied literature and creative fiction writing at The New School. I've continued writing and editing post-grad:
In February 2026, I was accepted to Sackett Street Writers' Advanced Fiction workshop. Since that has ended, I've stayed in contact with classmates and enjoy reading and workshopping their writing in my free time.
I also continue to write my own fiction, as well as music for my band.
