"Finger Food" is the name of the zine I started in spring 2026, made by and for local artists in the NYC area with the purpose of connection and collaboration, as well as small publication. Right now, issues are seasonal (typically coming out around solstices/equinoxes) - though I hope as it grows and more artists submit their work we'll be able to publish monthly, which would open it up to advertisements for local artists' events/shows/services as well.
We are always looking for submissions and help of any kind, and are open to all mediums of work. If you have something to share, please contact me at fingerfoodzine@gmail.com!
Since I'm the only person running Finger Food, the responsibility lies on me to create it. First, I post an open call for submissions on various platforms upon the publication of the latest issue. As those come in, I begin graphic design for the upcoming issue. I conduct all outreach and communications with artists, and include any information they want to share with their submissions. When the zine's design is finished, I put an order in for a printed copy and use any leftovers in the budget to make merch (stickers and pins) with some of the art used in that issue. At the same time, I begin advertising for the zine's release and planning with local venues/shops about a release event, where zines and merch are available to the public. After the release event, I drop copies off at local bookstores, cafes, etc. and start the cycle over again with another open call.
